Chinese Superheroes!

When you think of Marvel superheroes, what comes to mind? Spider-Man, maybe. Or Captain America, perhaps. But, did you know that two new Chinese superheroes by the names of Sword Master and Aero will soon be joining the Disney-owned Marvel family?

The creation of Sword Master and Aero, both of whom will be based in China, is part of Marvel’s attempt to reach out to its large fan base in Asia. Both the stories of Sword Master and Aero will not only be grounded in Chinese culture and mythology, but will also be intertwined with the modern Marvel universe, where they will interact with other Marvel superheroes. Interestingly, both Sword Master and Aero will be drawn in the Japanese “manga” style that is more popular in Asia to appeal more to the specific demographic.

Chester B. Cebulski, Editor-in-Chief of Marvel as of November 2017, has said that Marvel is trying to hire more Asian creators to incorporate more cultures into its comics, acknowledging that Marvel had previously not prominently promoted Asian characters and stating the need for “stories that are reflective of every culture.”

In addition to releasing new Chinese characters, Marvel has also released Marvel mobile games in China and opened up Marvel Stores in South Korea to attract fans in Asia. Additionally, Marvel has recently announced the debut of Luna Snow, a Korean pop star turned superhero, in its Marvel Future Fight mobile game.

I surely am eager to see what Marvel plans for these two new Chinese superheroes! Let me know in the comments below your thoughts on this exciting news. Until next time!

What a cool article. Marvel is one of Disney’s most profitable branches and the introduction of these new Chinese characters will only boost its profits. Marvel movies have always been must-watches for me and these two new characters will be a great addition to an already great franchise.

These candies are so different! I wish that in America they made these bizarre candies. I want to try the Dragons Beard especially since I love cotton candy but White Rabbit will always be my favorite!
