Great Chinese Classic Part II: 三国演义 (The Romance of the Three Kingdoms)

Last week, we discussed one of the Great Chinese Classics: 水浒传 (Water Margin). Today, I will be sharing another very famous Chinese novel with you: 三国演义 (The Romance of the Three Kingdoms).
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a historical novel set during the end of the Han dynasty. The main conflict between the various warriors and nobles leads to many triumphs, deaths, and takeovers. The novel follows three main characters, Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and He Jin. These three characters form a tight, almost brother-like, relationship. A famous quote from this novel is, “We were not born on the same day, same month, same year. We only hope to die on the same day, same month, same year”.
